Checking the corrugated covers of the cardan shafts
Raise the car.
Check to see if there are any traces of oil on the corrugated covers and on the parts next to them.
Check the strength of the clamps.
Examine the covers with a lamp for porosity, cracks or abrasions.
In this case, turn the wheels in both directions until they stop. Replace damaged covers immediately.
If the cover is pulled in by the vacuum in the hinge or is defective, it must be replaced immediately.
Checking the ball joint dust covers
Check the dust covers for damage using a lamp. Check for traces of oil on the covers and on the parts next to them.
If dirt has already penetrated into the hinge through the damaged cover, it should be replaced immediately.
Check the shock absorber for traces of oil. A slight oil film on the piston rod is evidence of normal operation of the shock absorber.
Checking ball joints for clearances
With the vehicle raised on trestles, use a crowbar to press the ball joint in different directions.
If a gap is found, replace the ball joint.
Lower the car.
