Replacing the brake line / brake hose (VW Passat B3)

Pipes are used for the brake system lines, which together with the high-pressure brake hoses to the wheels include the connection from the master cylinder to the four wheel brakes.

Attention: For cars with ABS, use only ready-made original brake lines, under no circumstances products sold by the meter.

Brake hoses create flexible connections between fixed and moving parts of the vehicle.

Raise the car.

Loosen the union nuts of the brake pipe and remove it.

Close the connection point of the pipeline in the direction of the main brake cylinder with a suitable plug or first suck out the brake fluid from the expansion tank using a siphon.

If possible, lay the new brake line in the same place.

If the brake hose at the caliper needs to be replaced, the caliper must first be removed.

Install the new brake hose so that it hangs down without twisting, tighten the union nuts to a torque of 10 Nm.

Install only factory approved brake hoses.

After installation, the wheels are unloaded (the car is lifted) check that the hoses track all the movements of the wheels without touching anything.

Caution: Brake hoses must not come into contact with oil or fuel or be coated with varnish; or anti-corrosion coating for the underbody.

Remove air from the brake system.

Lower the car.
