Checking the brake force regulator (VW Passat B3)

The brake force regulator controls the pressure in the rear brake system depending on the vehicle load. This prevents the wheels from locking and improves the vehicle's stability when braking.

The brake force regulator is mounted at the rear under the body and is controlled by a spring connected to the rear axle.

Functional check

The car must stand on its wheels.

Observe the operation of the brake force regulator together.

Press the brake pedal firmly and release it quickly. The brake force regulator lever should move.

To adjust the brake force regulator, a suitable pressure gauge is required, which measures the brake pressure (workshop work).
