  • All consumers of the on-board electrical network. Check functionality.
  • Windscreen wiper blades. Check the condition of the rubber band and the resting position of the blades.
  • Windscreen washer. Check the functionality and position of the jets. Add washing fluid and check the operation of the headlight washer.
  • Battery. Check the strength of the fastening, the electrolyte level and, if necessary, add distilled water.
  • Headlights. Check the position of the headlights and, if necessary, adjust the angle of the optical axis of the headlights (in the workshop).
  • Self-diagnostic system. Read the codes of registered faults (in the workshop). For this purpose, a suitable diagnostic tester is required, for example, VW-V.4S-5051(A) or VAS-5052 with connecting cables, for example. VAS-5051/6A. The tester is connected to the diagnostic socket in the footwell on the driver's side, under the instrument panel (see illustrations 28.0 and 28.0a).
  • Readout and command device. Delete old maintenance data and enter new ones (in the workshop). This operation can only be performed using a diagnostic tester.

Checking consumers of the on-board network



No special tools or devices are required.



Check the functionality of the devices listed below. If necessary, eliminate the detected malfunctions.

Depending on the vehicle configuration, some on-board network consumers may not be included in the list below.
  • Lighting devices: low and high beam headlights, fog lights, direction indicators, hazard warning lights, side lights, fog lights, reversing lights, brake lights, parking lights.
  • Interior lighting, glove compartment lighting, ashtray lighting, trunk lighting, ignition stuttering light, ignition stuttering light.
  • Sounds a warning signal when the lights or radio are not turned off.
  • All switches on the instrument panel and center console.
  • Instrument panel with all indicators, meters, lights and backlighting.
  • Sound signal.
  • Windscreen wipers and washers, headlight cleaner.
  • Front and rear cigarette lighter.
  • Electrically adjustable and heated exterior rear-view mirrors.
  • Electric windows.
  • Automatic sunroof.
  • Central locking, remote control.
  • Seat position adjusters, as well as a seat belt position adjuster.
  • Seat heaters.
  • Radio.
