Removing
1. Open and have an assistant support the tailgate or hood.
Attention! When removing the stop, the rear door must be supported by an assistant. Otherwise, it will slam shut, because one stop is not enough to keep the door open.
2. Pry off the locking bracket 1 of the stop with a small screwdriver 3 and remove the gas-filled stop 2 from the upper ball joint (see illustration).
3. Remove the stop from its lower support in the same way.
Installation
4. Have an assistant support the hood or tailgate.
5. Attach the gas-filled struts to the lower and upper supports and secure with the retaining clips.
6. Close the hood or tailgate.
Disposal of the gas-filled stop
Attention! When replacing the old gas-filled door stop with a new one, remove the gas from the removed stop. To do this, clamp the stop in a vise at the point x = 50 mm (see illustration 52.0). Clamp the emphasis in a vice in this place. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in an accident. Then cut the stop cylinder in the first third of its length, counting from the edge on the side of the rod. Use a rag to collect the leaking oil. In addition, sawing should be done with protective goggles.
