Removal
1. Open and have an assistant support the rear door or hood.
Attention! The rear door must be supported by an assistant when removing the stop. Otherwise, it will slam shut, because the stop alone is not enough to keep the door open.
2. Pry up the locking clip 1 of the stop with a small screwdriver 3 and remove the gas-filled stop 2 from the upper ball joint (see illustration).

3. Remove the stop from its lower support in the same way.
Installation
4. Have an assistant support the hood or tailgate.
[The information is available on the website: vwmanual.ru]
5. Fasten the gas-filled struts to the lower and upper supports and secure with locking brackets.
6. Close the hood or tailgate.
Disposal of gas-filled strut
Attention! When replacing the old gas-filled door stop with a new one, remove the gas from the removed stop. To do this, clamp the stop in a vice at point x = 50 mm (see illustration 52.0). Clamp the stop in a vice exactly at this point. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in an accident. Then saw the stop cylinder in the first third of its length, counting from the edge on the rod side. Place a rag underneath to collect the leaking oil. Also, wear safety glasses when sawing.
