Removal
1. Remove the trim from the front door.
2. Unscrew the screw that secures the triangular cover near the window opening.
3. Pry up the triangular cover with a plastic wedge, for example, HAZET 1955-20, and remove it from the window frame.
4. Cut the wire harness clamp and disconnect the plug from the side mirror.
5. Remove the protective cap 3, unscrew the three screws 2 and remove the mirror 1 together with the support (see illustration).
6. Pull the mirror wires through the hole on the door.
The mirror is installed in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the mirror mounting screws with a force of 8 Nm, and secure the wiring harness with a new clamp.
Touran cars
Removal and installation of the side rear-view mirror on Touran vehicles is the same as on Golf vehicles. The side mirror is attached to the door with two bolts.

Removal
7. Remove the front pillar trim.
8. Unscrew nuts 2 and remove window 1 from the opening (see illustration).

Installation
9. Insert the window 1 into the mounting opening and secure it by only slightly tightening the nuts 2 (see illustration 77.8).
10. Straighten the window in the opening and tighten the nuts with a force of 4.5 Nm.
11. Reinstall the front pillar trim.
