Auto-dimming interior rearview mirror
To prevent the driver from being dazzled from behind, the interior rear-view mirror is continuously and automatically dimmed. The mirror consists of a mirror element and an electronic control unit with two photo sensors. Using the photo sensors, the control unit detects the intensity of light radiation in front of and behind the mirror. If the effect of light radiation from behind is more intense than from the front, the control unit applies voltage to the conductive coating. Under the influence of electrical voltage, the electrolyte changes colour. The higher the electrical voltage, the darker the electrolyte becomes. This reduces the reflection coefficient of incident light. When reverse gear is engaged, the automatic dimming function is deactivated. This eliminates the difficulty of driving out of a dark garage, for example, using the interior rear-view mirror.

On vehicles with a rain sensor, turn off the ignition. Press the lock "1" of the right cover "2" with wedge "3409". Disconnect the right "2" and left covers "3" from the mirror base. Disconnect the connector "4". Remove the mirror from the mount by sliding it down parallel to the windshield.

Turn the interior rearview mirror "1" 90° counterclockwise "arrow" and remove it from the bracket "2".
