Warning: When installing new parts from the spare parts catalog, be sure to match the pressure plate and clutch disc with the engine letter index and engine number.
Execution order
1. When installing a new clutch disc or pressure plate, remove the anti-corrosion protection from them.
2. When installing the clutch disc, make sure that even small amounts of oil do not get on its friction linings, so before installing the clutch disc, wipe the mating surface of the flywheel and the surface of the pressure plate with a clean rag, and install the clutch disc with clean hands.

3. Install the pressure plate with the steel plate on the crankshaft. The installation position of the steel plate should be such that the hole in the plate aligns with the protrusion (indicated by the arrow).
4. Screw in the pressure plate mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque of 60 Nm, then turn them through an angle of 90°. Due to the fact that the bolts stretch, only new bolts must be used during installation.

5. Install the trip disk (B) into the pressure plate and secure it with the retaining ring (A).
6. Lubricate the splines in the clutch disc hub with a thin layer of special molybdenum disulfide-based grease.

7. Check that the centering pins are firmly secured to the flywheel. Install the clutch disc and flywheel onto the pressure plate. There are dowel pins for centering the flywheel. The dowel pins of the flywheel must align with the corresponding holes. You can also use the special VW 3178 tool to center the flywheel.
8. After centering the flywheel, gradually tighten the flywheel mounting bolts in a diagonal sequence to 20 Nm.
9. If used, remove special VW 3178 centering tool.
10. Install the gearbox.
