The V-belt tension should be adjusted after each removal, replacement and as its tension weakens. In addition, the V-belt tension should be adjusted at certain intervals. When the belt slips at high speeds, a shrill sound is heard, which indicates the need to adjust the belt tension.
The belt tension is checked on the section between the pulleys installed on the crankshaft and the generator shaft. The belt deflection from the force of the hand should not exceed 10-15 mm. To increase the belt tension, loosen the bolts securing the generator and its bracket, and then use a screwdriver to move the generator outward. Holding the generator in this position, tighten the bolts.
