Disconnect the wire from the thermal switch and connect an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the wire and the "ground". At low temperatures, the resistance should be very high. The more the engine warms up, the lower the resistance should be.
There may also be errors in the operation of the temperature gauge and temperature sensor. Disconnect the wire from the temperature sensor and connect it to the "ground" with the ignition off. Turn on the ignition. The arrow should move to the extreme right position. To avoid damaging the device, quickly turn off the ignition.
