If it is necessary to remove the thermostat housing, disconnect all fittings and electrical wires suitable for it and remove the rubber seal.
The thermostat cannot be repaired and must be replaced if it malfunctions.
The operation of the thermostat is checked as follows:
- Place the thermostat on the wire in a container of cold water.
- Place a control thermometer in the same container.
- When heating water, check if the thermostat valve starts to open at about 80°C. Full opening of the thermostat valve should occur at a temperature of 102°C.
- During the test, the thermostatic valve stem must move at least 7 mm. If the thermostat does not pass the described test, it must be replaced.
- A new gasket must be used when installing the thermostat. Check the condition of the clamps before attaching the hoses. Fill the system with coolant.
