Connect the clamps of the electrical test lamp to "mass" car. Keep the tip of the test lamp at the contact bar.
The assistant turns on the engine pre-glow system and starts it.
During pre-glow and start-up, the light must be lit. Otherwise, in the model "Golf", built before July 1977, has a defect in the glow starter switch.
On newer vehicles, check if terminal 50 at the pre-glow relay is energized during start-up.
If not, then there is a defect in the power cable (cable, central part of electrical equipment).
If there is voltage at terminal 50, then the relay is faulty.
If the car does not start well, which also has an additional glowing system (release after August 1977), perhaps there is a defect in the system of additional incandescence.
Connect test lamp between "weight" and a contact bus for glow plugs.
Turn the ignition key to position "Pre-glow" and wait until the corresponding pre-glow indicator lamp goes out.
Now do not act on the starter, but wait until the control lamp goes out.
From the moment the pre-glow indicator lamp in the instrument cluster goes out until the indicator lamp goes out, the following time intervals must be:
- conventional heating system (release before July 1980) - 10-25 sec.;
- fast heating system (release after August 1980) - 6-7 sec.
