- oil filler cap seal (unscrew the cover and check the seal for porosity or damage);
- cylinder head cover gasket;
- cylinder head gasket;
- flange connection of the ignition distributor to the engine;
- oil filter seal: oil filter on oil filter flange;
- oil drain plug (seal);
- oil pan seal;
- junction between engine and gearbox (seal on flywheel or drive shaft).
Since, during depressurization, the oil mostly spreads widely over the surface of the engine, at first glance it is difficult to determine the location of the leak. The search should be done like this:
1. Wash the engine. Spray the engine with a cold cleaner, wait a while until it shows its properties and then rinse with water, having previously covered the ignition distributor and generator with plastic bags.
2. Sprinkle mating points and gaskets on the engine with lime or talc.
3. Check oil level, top up if necessary.
4. Carry out a checkout. Since the oil of a hot engine becomes thinner and flows out faster from damaged areas, make a run of about 30 km.
5. Then examine the engine with a lamp, find the leak and fix it.
