Removing
Bring the radiator frame to the service position.
Remove poly V-belt. Remove the vibration damper. To do this, lock the vibration damper using the locking key T10069.
Remove oil pan.
Loosen the sealing flange.
Remove sealant residue from sealing surfaces.
Installation
Wipe off any remaining oil on the crankshaft journal with a clean rag.
Cut off the tip of the tube at the front mark (∅ approx. 3 mm).
Apply a layer of sealant about 2-3 mm thick, as shown in Figure 2.50, to the clean sealing surface of the flange.
NOTE: Cover the gland with a clean rag before applying sealant. The sealant layer should not be thicker than 2-3 mm, otherwise excess sealant can get into the oil pan and clog the strainer in the oil intake pipe.
NOTE: Observe the expiration date of the sealant.
NOTE: The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the silicone sealant.
Install the guide sleeve 1 Т10215/1 in front on the crankshaft journal 3.
Then carefully install the sealing flange with gland 2-through-cut guide sleeve (pic. 2.51).
Screw the flange to the cylinder block.
Install the oil pan.
NOTE: The vibration damper mounting bolt must be replaced.
Tighten the fixing bolt with a torque wrench VAG 1601.
Install the vibration damper and secure it with counterhold T10069.
Tighten the new mounting bolt to 100 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°).
Install poly V-belt.
