NOTE: Before removing the crankshaft, provide a proper storage location to avoid damage to the sensor gear. For assembly work, the engine must be secured to the engine and gearbox fixture VAS 6095.
NOTE: When replacing bearing shells, use only bearing shells with the same color code.
Installing the engine speed sensor gear on the crankshaft
Before installation, check that the adjacent surfaces of the crankshaft and sensor gears are clean and free of grease. For additional fixation, lubricate the landing surface of the sensor gear on the crankshaft with a thin layer of thread varnish D 000 600 A2.
When installing, make sure that the VR6 mark is at a separate threaded hole (pic. 2.53).
Tighten all new mounting bolts lightly by hand at first.
Tighten fixing bolt 1 to 10 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°).
Then tighten fixing bolt 2 to 10 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°).
