Location of the oil filler plug on the 01V gearbox
To check the oil level in the automatic 4-speed gearbox 01N (in combination with a 4-cylinder engine, except for engines with a power of 150 hp) you must use a 12mm Allen key.
To check the oil level in the 01V 4-speed automatic transmission in combination with the 150 hp 4-cylinder engine, a new seal for the oil filler plug must be used.
Warning: If the level in the final drive of the gearbox is checked and it is found that there is too much or too little oil in the final drive, then the oil is exchanged with the planetary gearbox. In this case, you must contact a VW service station to correct the fault.
Execution order
1. Place the vehicle on a lift in a horizontal position.
2. Remove the lower engine splash shield.
3. Remove the oil filler plug from the gearbox.
4. Check the oil level. The oil level is correct when it is at the lower edge of the threaded hole.
5. Screw in the oil filler plug and tighten it to a torque of 25 Nm on the 01N gearbox and 30 Nm on the 01V gearbox, see Fig. Location of the oil filler plug on the 01N gearbox and Fig. Location of the oil filler plug on the 01V gearbox.
6. Install the lower engine splash shield.
