2. Unscrew and remove the speedometer drive mechanism and wipe it with a clean rag.
3. Insert the speedometer drive mechanism into place in the transmission and remove it again. Check the oil level in the main gear, which should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the speedometer drive mechanism.
4. If necessary, add oil of the required specification. The amount of oil between the MIN and MAX marks is 0.1 liters. If the oil level is above normal, pump out excess oil using a syringe with a tube.
5. Reinstall the speedometer drive mechanism in the gearbox and screw it on.
Warning: If, when checking the level in the final drive of the gearbox, it is found that there is too much or too little oil in the final drive, then the oil is exchanged with the planetary gearbox. In this case, it is necessary to contact a VW workshop for troubleshooting.
