Removing
Warning: Handbrake cable removal on 4WD models is the same as handbrake cable removal on front wheel drive models. This subsection shows the differences in removing the handbrake cables on all-wheel drive models.
1. Remove the exhaust system, see fig. The location of the muffler, which must be removed before removing the handbrake cables on all-wheel drive models.
2. Unscrew the nuts and remove the heat shield, see fig. The location of the heat shield fastening nuts on all-wheel drive models).
3. Loosen the handbrake cable and remove it from the rear brake caliper.
4. Using pliers, move the handbrake cable adjusters.
5. Unscrew bolts and release a cable of a manual brake from holders on a back beam.
6. Release the handbrake cable from all attachments on the bottom of the vehicle.
