Removal
Remove the center console.
Release the handbrake.
Loosen the adjusting nut "arrow" so that the handbrake cable can be unhooked from the equalizing bracket.
Safety instructions
There is a risk of accident when lifting the vehicle! Please read the section beforehand "Lifting a car".
Mark the direction of rotation of the tires with an arrow. Loosen the wheel bolts. Raise the rear of the car onto jack stands and remove the wheels.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in the chapter "Removal and installation a wheel".
Loosen the nuts with latches "1" and lower the underbody protection down so that the guide tube "2" for the handbrake cable is visible.
Car with rear disc brakes: press the locking bracket "1" with a screwdriver and remove it by moving it downwards. Press the brake lever "2" in the direction of the arrow and unhook the handbrake cable "3".
Car with rear drum brakes: remove the brake drum and unhook it from the brake shoe handbrake cable.
Unfasten the handbrake cable from the holder "A" on the rear axle beam and remove it from the holders.
Pull the handbrake cable out of the guide tube "1" in the direction of the arrow
Installation
Insert the handbrake cable into the guide tube.
Car with rear disc brakes: press brake lever "2" in the direction of the arrow and attach handbrake cable "3". Insert locking bracket "1" for fixing the handbrake cable into the counter support.
Car with rear drum brakes: attach the handbrake cable to the brake shoe and install brake drum.
Secure the handbrake cable to the holder "A" on the rear axle beam. The locking ring on the handbrake cable must be positioned in the center of the holder.
Attach the handbrake cable to the "arrow" holders.
Secure the underbody protection.
Adjust the handbrake, see the relevant chapter.
Ensure the previous direction of rotation of the tires, tighten the wheels with bolts, lower the car and only then tighten the wheel bolts in a crosswise manner with a torque of 120 Nm.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in the chapter "Removal and installation a wheel".
Install the center console.
