1. Release the handbrake, then disconnect the primary arm from the equalizer by loosening and removing the locking and adjusting nuts.

2. Remove the cable end fastening from the equalizer.

3. Remove the rear wheels and brake drums as described earlier in this chapter and disconnect the cable ends from the brake shoe levers.

4. Guide the cable sleeves out from the rear brake plate and release the cables from their guides.

5. The handbrake lever, intermediate rod and intermediate or primary lever can be disassembled after removing the support pins. These pins are held in place by spring clips.

6. Assembly and installation of new cables is carried out by performing the above steps in reverse order. After completing the work, adjust the cable as described in Section 14 and lubricate all support points.
