The infrared remote control allows you to remotely perform the following actions: centralized locking and unlocking of doors and windows, switching on and off the alarm, closing the roof hatch. The infrared transmitter with the power source is located in the key head. The infrared receiver is located in the interior rearview mirror.

The range of the remote control is shown in Fig. B31-087C. The maximum distance depends on various circumstances. The central lock and alarm operate at a maximum distance of up to 7 m; window lifts and sunroof - up to 4 m. With discharged power sources (batteries) this distance is decreasing.
Unlocking and locking the car

To unlock a locked car, you need to get close to it within the range of the remote control, point the key at the interior mirror (infrared receiver) and briefly press the opening button (arrow 1), and to lock the car - press the closing button (arrow 2).
Indication
While the lock or unlock button is pressed, the indicator light in the key flashes. If this does not happen, the battery may be flat and can be replaced at a service station.

Closing and opening windows and sunroof
When unlocking the car, you need to keep the opening button pressed until all the windows open. When you release the button, the windows stop opening. You need to do the same when locking the car.
Caution: To avoid injury to nearby people or animals from closing windows or sunroofs, always supervise the closing process.
Synchronization of key codes
If the car does not unlock when you press the remote control button on the key, the reason may be a mismatch between the codes of the key and the receiver in the car. This can happen if the key button is frequently pressed outside the range of the remote control.
In this case, the remote control system codes must be resynchronized. The entire synchronization process should not exceed 20 seconds.
1 - Insert the key into the door lock and turn it clockwise three times, holding it in the open position for 0.5 seconds. Remove the key from the lock.
2 - Point the key towards the interior mirror.
3 - Press the close button (2) and hold it down.
4 - Press the open button (1) three times, then release the close button. The key code is now resynchronised with the code of the remote control receiver. For verification, all door buttons are lowered and raised again.
The second key can also be coded. To do this, you need to perform steps 2-4 immediately after synchronizing the first key. This process should also not exceed 20 seconds. You can purchase uncoded additional keys at service stations.
