Checking, removing and installing the heater fan (VW Passat B3)

Removal

Disconnect the battery ground cable.



Remove the suction pipe.

When installed, check the ease of movement of the fan wheel.

Remove the lower cover at the top of the footwell in front of the glove box.



Press the retaining tongue (arrow) down with a screwdriver. Pull out the fan by turning it clockwise.

Note: If the heater fan does not operate at all stages, then, as a rule, there is a defect in the additional resistance. In this case, replace the connecting connector in the kit.

To do this, press down the retaining clip and pull the connecting connector down.

Installation

Attach and secure the connecting connector.

Note: To facilitate the groove and spring contact surfaces, lubricate. The connector must sit firmly on the body, otherwise the connector must be screwed on from above.

Turn to the left to insert and secure the fan.

Install the casing.

Install the suction pipe.

Connect the battery ground wire.
