Removal
Please note: When removing the front seat with side airbag, the airbag unit adapter VAS 6229 is required.
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal first, then the positive (+) battery terminal to avoid possible airbag deployment. Wrap the negative battery terminal with insulating tape.
2. Remove the box from under the seat, if present.
3. Move the front seat forward and unscrew the two rear bolts 3 and 4 (see illustration).

4. Move the front seat back and remove cover 5 from the connector panel (see illustration).
Caution! Before disconnecting the airbag canister connectors, remove any possible static electricity by touching the door lock or the body. The airbag unit adapter must remain connected until the front seat is fully installed. Always observe the safety precautions regarding airbags.
5. Disconnect all plugs from the connector strip under the seat.
6. Disconnect plug 6 of the airbag and connect adapter 7 (VAS 6229) in its place (see illustration 33.3).
Attention! The adapter provides additional safety against static discharge.
7. Unscrew the two front bolts 1 and 2 (see illustration 33.3).
8. Release the wiring harness from its mount on the floor of the vehicle.
9. Remove the front seat together with the guides through the front door of the vehicle.
Caution! When removing the left front seat, place your right hand between the seat back and seat cushion, and hold the front of the cushion with your left hand. The right seat is removed in a similar manner. Do not hold the seat by the seat belt or the seat position lever.
Installation
10. Position the front seat on the floor so that the centering pins on the seat fit into the holes in the floor.

Further installation of the seat is carried out in the reverse order of removal. In this case, first tighten the front mounting bolts, and only then the rear ones.
The tightening torque for the front seat mounting bolts is 40 Nm.
Caution! There should be no people in the vehicle when connecting the battery.
11. Remove the insulating tape from the negative battery terminal and connect the positive potential (+) wire terminal first, and only then the ground (-) wire terminal.
If after turning on the ignition the signal lamp on the instrument panel does not go out after some time, then this is evidence of a malfunction of the airbag system. In this case, it is recommended to contact the workshop.
