To engage the parking brake, pull the lever up hard enough (indicated by the arrow) parking brake. If the road is on a steep slope, you should additionally engage 1st gear or set the automatic transmission to parking lock mode.
The parking brake lever must always be pulled sufficiently hard to prevent the vehicle from being driven later with the parking brake not fully released due to an oversight.
When the parking brake is applied and the ignition is on, the brake system indicator lamp comes on.
To release the parking brake, pull the lever up slightly, press the lock button and push the lever down completely.
Warning: To prevent the vehicle from rolling away uncontrollably, you must always firmly apply the parking brake after the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Additionally, engage one of the gears of the manual transmission or set the automatic transmission selector to position "P".
Warning: Remember that the parking brake must be fully released before driving. A parking brake that is not fully released causes the brakes to overheat, which has a negative effect on braking efficiency. In addition, this leads to accelerated wear of the rear brake linings.
