To engage the parking brake, pull the parking brake lever up hard enough. If the road is on a steep incline, additionally engage 1st gear or set the automatic transmission to the parking lock mode. The parking brake lever must always be pulled hard enough to prevent driving with the parking brake not fully released due to an oversight.
When the parking brake is applied and the ignition is on, the brake system indicator lamp comes on.
To release the parking brake, pull the lever up slightly, press the lock button and push the lever down completely.
