Parking brake — general information (VW Sharan 1)
The parking brake mechanism is completely independent of the service brake mechanisms. The parking brake lever, via cable rods, actuates rear wheel brakes. A Bowden cable is used as a traction cable - a steel cable in a flexible, twisted braid. The wear of the parking cable during operation is insignificant, but it can stretch after a long mileage of the car. Although due to the selection of the material, this happens very rarely.
