Economical operation of the «Climatronic» unit (VW Golf 4)

When the unit operates in the air cooling mode, its compressor is driven by the engine, and therefore the nature of the unit's use affects fuel consumption. In order to reduce the unit's operating time as much as possible, it is necessary to take into account the following recommendations.

If the interior of a parked vehicle has become very hot due to solar radiation, it is recommended to open windows or doors for a short time to ventilate the interior.

Do not leave the refrigeration unit running while the vehicle is moving or with the windows or sunroof panel open.

If the desired temperature in the passenger compartment can be achieved without turning on the refrigeration unit, select the "ECON" operating mode.

If after switching on the ignition all symbols on the display flash for approximately 15 seconds, the system is faulty – contact a Volkswagen service centre.
