Driving style

Fuel consumption, environmental pollution, engine wear, brakes, tires and other vehicle parts depend on driving style.

For economical driving, it is recommended to follow the following rules.

Do not keep the engine running when stopped.

At idle, the engine takes a long time to warm up, and wear of parts and emissions of harmful substances are highest, so you need to start driving immediately after the engine begins to run steadily, while avoiding high revs.

Avoid driving at too high or too low revs unnecessarily - shift gears in good time. The correct choice of gear and engine load not only reduces fuel consumption, but also increases engine life. Fuel consumption, for example, in second gear is twice as high as in top gear. At the same time, engine noise is reduced.

Avoid driving at maximum speed unless absolutely necessary. High speeds increase fuel consumption, exhaust toxicity and noise. At three-quarters of maximum speed, fuel consumption is reduced by about half, and the time lost is usually insignificant.

Drive as evenly as possible, planning your actions in advance. Excessive overtaking and braking increases fuel consumption, increases wear and tear on mechanisms and harms the environment.

Turn off the engine during forced stops.

Terms of Use

Fuel consumption depends on driving conditions. When planning a trip, try to avoid places with unfavorable conditions.

For example, the following negatively affects fuel consumption:

  • High traffic density, especially in large cities with numerous traffic lights.
  • Short trips over short distances, during which the engine does not warm up completely.
  • Driving slowly in traffic in low gear.

Of course, fuel consumption is also affected by factors that do not depend on the driver. For example, increased fuel consumption in winter or in difficult road conditions is normal (bad road, movement: trailer, long climbs, etc.)
