The windows remain operational for 10 minutes after the ignition is switched off, as long as one of the front doors is not opened.
When the front windows are closed, the automatic full glass opening system does not operate.
If the movement of the glass when closing the window of one of the front doors is difficult or something obstructs it, the window immediately opens again (overload protection). In this case, the window can only be closed by turning on the ignition.
On cars with central locking, the windows can also be closed or opened from the outside. To do this, simply hold the key in the lock of one of the front doors in the locked or unlocked position.
After disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery of a vehicle with electric windows, the automatic lowering and raising of the front door windows stops functioning.
In order to restore the automation, you need to do the following:
1. Lock the car from the outside using one of the front doors. Make sure that all doors and windows are completely closed, unlock and lock the car again using one of the front doors. Hold the key in the lock position for at least one second. The automatic raising and lowering of the front windows will work again.
2. If a malfunction occurs in the electric window lifter, this is indicated by the flashing of the backlight of the switches in the front doors, as well as in the rear doors.

3. If, after switching on the ignition, all the light inserts in the door trim flash for approximately 15 seconds, you should contact a Volkswagen service centre.
