The cylinders, as already mentioned, are part of the cylinder block. The four cylinder bores are piston guides and are ground in a special way. The walls should not be completely smooth, because otherwise the oil needed for lubrication will not be able to stick to them. The cylinder bores are 0.03 mm wider than the corresponding pistons. The cylinder surfaces can be ground no more than three times during engine repairs in order to remove traces of wear.
