Grab the engine with a cable and move the hoist boom to unload the suspension of the power unit.
Turn away both top bolts between the engine and a transmission. Disconnect from a body a lateral bracket of fastening of a transmission. From a body and from a transmission disconnect the back bracket of a transmission accessible from the bottom of the car.
Disconnect the drive shafts by removing the bolts on the gearbox flanges. Tie up the drive shafts with wire so that they do not interfere with the removal of the gearbox.
Remove the oil pan.
Attention! It is fixed with three bolts, one of which also tightens the engine and gearbox.
From the bottom of the car, unscrew the casings of the drive and planetary gearboxes.
After gaining access to the torque converter, disconnect it from the drive plate.
Set the gear selector lever to position «R» (parking).
Disconnect the gear selector lever clamp, near the bottom wire connection «masses».
Remove the bracket.
Disconnect the rods from the carburetor without changing their settings.
From the gearbox housing, unscrew the side bracket of the box, previously disconnected from the body.
On the left side of the gearbox (from the engine side) there is a support element that distributes the pressure of the power unit on the body. Unscrew the two bolts securing it to the body, as well as the bolt securing the box to the crankcase and remove the element.
From the bottom of the car, unscrew the bolts connecting the engine and gearbox.
Hang the gearbox with a hoist, fasten the loops of the cable or chain to the lug on the main gear to the torque converter housing.
Raise the gearbox slightly, move the left drive shaft up, and then carefully remove the crankcase from the pins. Slowly lower the gearbox to the floor. The torque converter will remain free and must be protected from falling out.
The gearbox is installed in the reverse order. When doing this, make sure that the gearbox housing is correctly fixed on the engine pins. The support element fastening bolts are tightened with a torque of 55 Nm. Attaching. gear selector lever, make sure that the selector lever as well as the lever on the gearbox are in the same position - «parking». Tighten the drive shaft mounting bolts to a torque of 45 Nm, and torque converter drive plate to a torque of 30 Nm. When installing the transaxle side bracket on the body, make sure that the bracket sits in the middle of the support on the body until the bolts are tightened. Tighten the engine-gearbox connection bolts to a torque of 55 Nm.
The automatic transmission is a complex unit and it is not recommended to remove it for self-repair. Repairs are carried out only in specialized workshops.
