The V-belt should always be tensioned after replacing the coolant pump or crankshaft pulley. The V-belt tension should be adjusted periodically and also in cases of slippage (determined by ear).
The belt tension is checked in the middle between the crankshaft and pump pulleys. At this point, the belt deflection should be 2 mm if it is new, and 5 mm if it has not been replaced (from the effort of the hand).
To increase the belt tension, loosen the generator and its bracket, and then move the generator outward. Hold the generator and tighten the bolts. Do not move the generator with a lever resting on its rear cover.
