Attention! Good visibility and visibility for the driver is achieved by cleaning the windows from condensate, ice and fogging. In order to ensure a safe driving environment, it is extremely important to carefully read the instructions and rules for the use of ventilation and heating, as set out below, and strictly follow them. If necessary, contact your Volkswagen dealer. Maximum heating intensity and fast defrosting can be obtained when the engine reaches operating temperature.
But your car's air intake system provides ventilation while driving. The air flow, passing through the ventilation grill on the engine hood, enters the passenger compartment through nozzles in the dashboard and footwell and exits through the ventilation slots in the side decorative panel of the luggage compartment. When packing luggage or other items, make sure that they do not block the ventilation slots.
Governing bodies
Heating and ventilation control lever
Select the desired airflow distribution by moving lever A (pic. 21) to the corresponding character. The main air flow enters through air ducts located in places with appropriate symbols. To create more comfortable conditions, you can create additional air flows from other air channels (except when the lever is set to ).
Heating and ventilation control lever positions
See below for air flow location and ventilation.
windshield nozzles 1 and 2 open (pic. 22).
air channels 5 open in the footwell (front and rear).
nozzles 3 and 4 in the dashboard are open along with air channels 5 in the footwell.
open nozzles 3 and 4 in the dashboard.
Air temperature control lever
Set the desired temperature by moving lever B (see fig. 21) between the extreme left and extreme right positions. Move the lever to the right to increase the temperature, to the left to decrease the temperature.
Fan switch
Adjust the airflow intensity by selecting the appropriate fan speed by turning its switch C (see fig. 21).
Air ducts/nozzles
Depending on the position of the air temperature control lever, heated or unheated air will flow from outside through all open nozzles. Nozzles 3 and 4 (see fig. 22) in the dashboard can also be opened or closed individually using the dials next to each nozzle.
Rotary switch up - nozzle open.
Rotary switch at the bottom - the nozzle is closed.
To adjust the airflow at the edges, use the central lever provided in each nozzle.
To adjust the airflow height, move the nozzle guide in the desired direction.
Removing frost from the windshield and side windows
Move both levers to the extreme right position. Turn the fan switch to the horizontal position.
Defogging the windshield and side windows
If the air humidity is high or on rainy days, the windshields and side windows will fog up. In this case, to eliminate fogging, do the following:
- Set the upper lever to the position between the symbols and (see fig. 21).
- Set the fan switch to the symbol or position 3. It would be very useful to set the air temperature control lever approximately in the middle of the area between its center and rightmost positions.
- close nozzle 3 (see fig. 22) on the dashboard.
- The additional flow of warm air coming out of the nozzles 4 in the dashboard can also be directed towards the side windows.
Accelerated interior heating
Move the top lever to the leftmost position.
Move the lower lever to the extreme right position.
Open nozzles 3 and 4 in the dashboard.
Turn the fan switch to the horizontal position.
Maintaining comfortable conditions inside the cabin
After cleaning all windows and heating the passenger compartment, install the controls as follows:
- Install the upper lever between the symbols and (see fig. 21).
- Use the lower lever to set the desired temperature.
- Set the fan switch to position 1 or 2.
- close nozzle 3 (see fig. 22) on the dashboard.
- Adjust the direction of movement of the warm air flow coming through the nozzles 4 in the dashboard.
Ventilation
To ensure maximum air circulation inside the passenger compartment, move both levers to the extreme left position and set the desired fan operation mode.
General recommendations
To maintain air circulation, it is recommended to keep the fan running at low speeds.
For unobstructed penetration of the air flow and in order to create effective conditions for ventilation and heating, regularly clean the intake ventilation slots in front of the windshield from frost, snow, leaves.
To avoid the penetration of exhaust gases, polluted air into the passenger compartment, close the windows, air nozzles in the instrument panel and set the upper lever to the leftmost position.
On vehicles equipped with an air filter, such actions are necessary if the outside air is polluted.
Dust is captured by the filter.
Both control levers can be set to any intermediate position.
The fan switch has no intermediate positions.
