Starting a gasoline engine
When starting a cold engine, press the accelerator pedal more than once.
Turn on the starter without pressing the accelerator pedal.
Once the engine starts, release the ignition key.
When starting a hot engine, lightly press the accelerator pedal and hold it in this position.
Starting a diesel engine
Turn the ignition starter and instrument key to position "1".
The pre-heating indicator on the instrument panel will light up. After the indicator goes out, turn on the starter without pressing the accelerator pedal.
If the engine does not start on the first try, start the second attempt by turning on the pre-heating system.
Do not turn off the starter until the engine starts to run steadily. When starting a diesel engine in cold weather, the handle (shown by the arrow in Figure 11) pull the trigger located to the left of the steering wheel to the first or second detent position.
When starting a diesel engine in cold weather at ambient temperatures down to -15°C, pull the starting device handle out completely.
At lower air temperatures, do not pull the starter handle until the engine runs smoothly.
Starting the engine from an auxiliary battery
When starting the engine from an auxiliary battery, connect the wires in the order shown in Figure 12. Disconnect the wires strictly in the reverse order.
