Remove the wheel and hub cap using the tool shown in fig. 411, although you can get by with a screwdriver.
Remove cotter pin 2 (pic. 412), locking the nut and remove the nut.

Loosen the hub nuts and remove the washers.
Remove the brake drum together with the outer bearing.
Place the drum on a spread vise and knock out the rear bearing, as well as the oil seal. Knock the bearing race out of the drum.
Install new outer bearing races and lubricate new bearings. Insert the inner races and press them flush with the edge of the gland. Collect the squeezed out lubricant.
Slide the brake drum onto the hub axle. On the outer side of the drum, install the parts shown in fig. 412.
Adjust bearing play:
- Tighten the nut firmly by rotating it in different directions with the drum, this is necessary to install the bearings in the cages. Loosen the nut again.
- Tighten the nut so that you can still move the nut washer with a screwdriver, as shown in fig. 413.
- In this position, fit the castle nut and insert a new cotter pin. If the cotter pin cannot be inserted, the nut should be slightly tightened, but the washer under the nut must move.
