Replacing the crankshaft oil seal on the engine timing side (VW Touareg 1)

Work execution procedure



NOTE: When removing the oil seal, be careful not to damage the seating surface.


Carefully remove the old sealing ring using the T20143/2 puller (fig. 2.177).

Remove any remaining oil from the crankshaft journal using a clean rag.

Connect the mounting sleeve T10207/1 and the mounting sleeve T10207/2. Put the seal A on the mounting sleeve T10207/2 until it stops (fig. 2.175).

Disconnect the mounting bushings.

Install the T10207/2 mounting sleeve together with the oil seal onto the crankshaft sealing gasket and tighten the knurled head bolts A by hand.

Press the oil seal using the T1207/3 mounting sleeve until it stops (fig. 2.176).

Further installation is carried out in reverse order.
