Removal
Disconnect the battery. Remove the air filter. Remove the battery. Remove the battery bracket. Cover the engine and gearbox with a lint-free cloth. Pump out as much brake fluid as possible from the expansion tank using the device -VAS 5234- or -VAG 1869/4-.
With manual transmission
Disconnect hose "B" from the clutch master cylinder and tie it up.

Disconnect connector "A" from brake fluid level sensor "F34". Disconnect connector "C" from brake light switch "F".

Remove the brake fluid reservoir. To do this, press the latches on the reservoir outward and simultaneously remove the reservoir from the seals. Unscrew the brake pipes "1" from the master brake cylinder. Immediately close the pipes with plugs from the 1H0 698 311 A set. Unscrew the nuts "2" securing the master brake cylinder.

If present, remove the heat shield. Carefully disconnect the brake master cylinder from the brake booster. Unscrew the brake light switch "F" from the brake master cylinder.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When connecting the master brake cylinder to the brake booster, ensure that the pusher is positioned correctly in the master brake cylinder. Bleed the brake system.
