The engine is lubricated by oil circulating under pressure. The gear pump is located at the bottom of the crankcase. The oil cooler is installed under the oil filter. The oil filter is cooled by the coolant of the cooling system. The drive gear of the oil pump also drives the vacuum pump.
The engine must not be overfilled with oil. This is even more important for a diesel engine, since if engine oil gets into the exhaust system, the catalytic converter may be damaged. Therefore, always remember this when adding oil to the engine. It is best to add enough oil so that when checking the amount, the oil level on the dipstick is slightly below the "Max" mark. After driving a few kilometers, check the oil level again and correct it if necessary.
