Caution: Secure the ground wire of the fuel pump device to an uncovered area of the vehicle body.

At a distance of A = 990 mm from the end of the suction hose, stick a piece of insulating tape onto the hose (fig. 2.203).
Unscrew the fuel tank filler cap.
Lower the bleed hose into the fuel tank until the mark you made with electrical tape is level with the filler neck.
Note: Handle 1 is not used further.
Note: There is a valve at the bottom end of the filler neck in the fuel tank. When lowering and removing the evacuation hose, be careful not to damage it. Therefore, lower the hose only to the pre-marked mark.
Pump out as much fuel as possible from the tank through the filler neck.
Carefully remove the suction hose.
Note: If fuel stops being pumped out, the fuel tank is empty enough that the sensor flange can be safely opened. The tank can be removed with the remaining fuel.
