The fuel tank is located behind the rear seat. The driver monitors the available fuel supply using the fuel gauge. The fuel tank is ventilated by a ventilation system.
Carburetor/injection system
The petrol engines of VW PASSAT cars with a power of 53 kW (72 hp) and an unregulated catalyst, as well as with a power of 55 kW (75 hp) are equipped with a Solex-Pierburg carburetor with a falling flow and sequential inclusion of mixing chambers. Other engines are equipped with injection systems from BOSCH or VW.
