Operation in winter conditions
When using summer diesel fuel at negative ambient temperatures, blockages in the fuel system pipes may occur, as the fuel becomes too viscous and paraffin begins to separate from it. For this reason, "winter" fuel should be used in the cold season, which remains liquid even at low temperatures.
Information on diesel fuel grades accepted in different countries can be obtained at Volkswagen service stations.
Preheating the fuel filter
The car is equipped with a fuel filter preheating device. This device allows the engine to start at temperatures down to -25°C if fuel designed for temperatures down to -15°C is used. Adding gasoline or kerosene to the fuel is not necessary in this case.

If the fuel has thickened at sub-zero temperatures and the engine does not start, the car must be warmed up in a warm room.
It is not advisable to mix thinners into diesel fuel.
