The fuel filler neck is located on the rear right side of the vehicle. Both keys are suitable for the lock of the neck cover - the main and additional.
With a central lock, the lid automatically locks and unlocks. With a faulty central lock, the lid can be opened manually (see below). The fuel tank holds about 70 liters of fuel.
The removed tank cap can be fixed on the lid during refueling - see figure.
If during refueling the column automatically turns off, it means that the gun touches the fuel - the tank is full (we are talking about modern filling stations equipped according to the European standard). It is no longer possible to add fuel further in this case, since when heated, its volume increases, and the fuel may begin to splash out of the neck.
After refueling, tighten the cap tightly until it clicks into place.
Note: On vehicles with a catalytic converter in the exhaust system, never let the fuel tank run completely empty. In the event of a fuel failure, the engine is unstable, resulting in misfires - in this case, unburned fuel enters the exhaust system, which leads to overheating of the catalyst.
Emergency opening of the fuel cap (failure of the central lock)
Open the tailgate. In a Limousine, unhook the clips and remove the trunk lining on the right near the rear light; on the Variant, open the cover in the right side trim of the luggage compartment.
Slightly move back the locking rod in front of the white diaphragm housing in the direction of the arrow - see illustration.
