Warning: Depending on vehicle modification, the driveshaft inboard joint may be ball or tripod type. The tripoid type hinge uses three rollers at 120°instead of six balls.
Order of execution
1. Remove the drive shaft and secure it in a soft jaw vise.
2. Using paint, mark the position of the CV joint boot on the drive shaft so that the boot can be installed in its place.
3. Remove the clamps securing the driveshaft boot and slide the boot onto the driveshaft.
4. Use an aluminum or copper hammer to knock the joint off the drive shaft.
Internal hinge
5. Remove retaining ring 11 (see fig. Drive shaft with constant velocity ball joint), which secures the inner joint to the drive shaft. Press the drive shaft out of the joint.
6. Before attaching the protective boot with clamps, when assembling with a screwdriver, lift the inner edge of the protective boot to equalize the air pressure under the boot.
