Distance x on both sides of the exhaust pipe and the cross beam
- x - distance. It should be the same on both sides of the exhaust pipe.
After each removal or disconnection of the exhaust system elements, it must be aligned with the body, otherwise the system will be in a stressed state, which will lead to cracks or additional noise.
Alignment must be performed on a cold exhaust system.
Execution order
1. Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands.
2. Loosen the clamp between the catalytic converter and the middle muffler.
3. Position the exhaust pipe so that it is parallel to the crossbar and the distance x is the same on both sides of the exhaust pipe.
4. Position the rear muffler with the rear exhaust pipe horizontally relative to the ground.
Front wheel drive cars
5. Slide the exhaust pipe into the clamp up to mark a (arrow 1).
Cars with 1.6-I engine and manual transmission
6. Slide the exhaust pipe into the clamp up to the mark s (arrow 2).
7. Tighten the clamp bracket mounting bolts to 40 Nm. The clamp bracket must be positioned horizontally to the left side of the vehicle.
8. Lower the car.
