Description and testing of the starter (VW Golf 2)

In cars with petrol engines, a starter with a power of 0.8 kW is installed (catalog number 036 911 0236), a DW type starter with a power of 1.7 kW is installed with a diesel engine.

To check the starter, use clamp "30" (big bolt) and clamp "50" (connector on the right side of the large bolt) connect to the battery using wires with a cross-section of at least 4.0 mm².

If the starter shaft starts to rotate, the supply wire is damaged. If the starter does not work, it must be dismantled and tested on a stand.
