Replacement
Using the key number at service stations, you can, having a repair kit for the door lock cylinder, assemble a cylinder suitable for the car. The key number is printed on the plastic key fob supplied with the car key set. On some models, the key number is also stamped on the door lock cylinders.
Repair
Due to the penetration of water, especially in winter when salt is present, the locking pins of the lock cylinders can rust, causing the cylinder to become stuck in its body.
Remove all grease from the lock cylinder and lock body.
Check the mobility of the locking pins. To do this, press the locking pins with a small screwdriver on the side where there is a small hole next to the locking pins for the locking pin springs.
Locking pins should be easily recessed and return to their original position.
Otherwise, remove the locking pins. To do this, wrap the door cylinder with adhesive tape and make notches in the tape for the locking pins that need to be removed.
Take out the key.
Press the locking pin in the direction of the hole for its spring.
Be careful not to lose the springs.
Clean the cylinder, locking pins, and springs.
Coat the lock pins and springs with new grease, such as VAG-G000400 or waterproof multipurpose grease, and replace them.
Check the ease of movement of the locking pins.
Attention! It is recommended to ensure separately the ease of movement of each locking pin, since in case of an erroneous installation the key will not be generated to the lock. It is almost impossible to find the correct position of the locking pins again.
Insert the key, remove the adhesive tape.
Install the lock cylinder.
