Terminal designations
Motor terminals are standardized:
- terminal 31 earth connection (common in the electrical system of the machine);
- terminal 53 receives voltage for the first wiper speed;
- terminal 53a supplies positive current (+) for the end position of the wiper: the engine receives voltage through the sliding contact until the wipers take their original, non-working position, if the driver turns off the wipers;
- terminal 53b supplies voltage for second speed wipers (secondary end winding);
- through terminal 53e, the engine is braked during reverse movement after switching off, so that the wipers do not fall below the idle position;
- not available everywhere: terminal 53c supplies voltage to the electric windshield washer water pump; terminal 53i is available for wiper motors with permanent magnet and third brush (for high speed wipers).
Examination
1. First, find out what is faulty: the wiper motor or no voltage. To do this, disconnect the multi-pin plug from the wiper motor.
2. Using two additional wires, connect voltage from the battery to the engine (+) And (-):
- attach one wire from the positive pole of the battery to terminal 53 or 53b;
- the second from the negative pole of the battery to terminal 31 of the engine.
3. The wiper motor, depending on the connected terminal, must operate in stage I or II. If not, then the engine or the corresponding stage is faulty. Remove wiper motor.
