1. Connect a test lamp or an ohmmeter to the suitable and outgoing wire of the sensor. To do this, disconnect the wires from the sensor.
Attention! The sensor screwed into the cylinder block, as a rule, does not have a ground wire.
2. When the sensor is triggered, the resistance is zero. Otherwise, the resistance is infinity.
3. Checking the operation of the coolant and brake fluid level sensors can be done quickly if, with the ignition on, disconnect the electrical supply wire from the sensor and attach it to the ground. If the warning light on the instrument panel comes on, it indicates a malfunction of the sensor. A special case is the oil pressure sensor: when the engine is not running, the sensor is triggered (control lamp is on) and only at a certain oil pressure the sensor turns off.
