Depending on the equipment, the VW T4 has a single-channel or two-tone horn, which are located in the engine compartment under the bumper. When you press the horn switch on the steering wheel, the circuit is closed. Models with a two-tone horn have a relay installed to reduce the load on the contact. In both versions, voltage is constantly supplied to terminal 15 of the horn. The horn button closes the circuit to ground.

Examination

1. Disconnect the plug by pressing the side wire clips. Unscrew the fastening nuts and remove the horn.

2. Using additional wires, connect the horn directly to the battery. The horn should work.

3. You can try to restore a faulty or poorly functioning signal by turning the adjusting screw (arrow) with a T20 Torx screwdriver on the back. First, remove the sealing compound from the screw head. After adjustment, reapply the sealing body compound to the screw head, protecting it from moisture.
