Testing LEDs

Examination
1. Connect the LED to a 1.8V DC power source. The diode should light. When installed (on the instrument panel) pre-resistors are connected, which reduce the battery voltage (12 V) to 1.8 V.
Attention! Pay attention to the correct polarity. The minus pole of the LED is marked with the phase (1) on the diode body and the large pole (2) in the diode body. Some diodes have an additionally curved minus connection.
2. At factories, a digital multimeter VW-1315A is used for this purpose. Press the resistance and voltage buttons simultaneously. Connect the red terminal to the straight, positive connection of the diode, and the black terminal to the black, curved negative connection. The diode should light up, otherwise it must be replaced.
